The following conditioners can be used for the dewatering of biochemical sludge in paper mills:
Inorganic conditioner: including lime, aluminum hydroxide, iron hydroxide, etc. The inorganic conditioner can improve the dewatering property of sludge by neutralizing the organic acids in sludge and adjusting the pH value of sludge. The advantages of inorganic conditioner are low cost and good dehydration effect. However, the addition amount is large, which may lead to an increase in the amount of sludge after treatment.
Acid and base conditioner: By changing the pH value of the sludge, the colloids and suspended substances in the sludge condense to form larger particles, and improve the dewatering performance of the sludge. Common acid-base conditioners are lime, sodium hydroxide, sulfuric acid and so on.
Biological conditioner: Microbial based sludge treatment technology to improve the dewatering performance of the sludge by breaking down the organic matter in the sludge.
Flocculant: can promote the small particles in the sludge to aggregate into larger flocculent, improve the dewatering performance of the sludge. Common flocculants are cationic polyacrylamide, anionic polyacrylamide, non-ionic polyacrylamide and so on.
Sludge conditioner: Chemical specially used to improve the dewatering performance of sludge. Common sludge dehydrating agents are inorganic salt compounds such as polymeric iron and polymeric aluminum.
The specific choice of sludge conditioner requires comprehensive consideration of the characteristics of the paper mill sludge, the cost of the conditioner and the treatment effect.
