Mud cake has a high water content. Are you still using traditional lime and ferric chloride?

For the problem of high water content of mud cake, the traditional lime and ferric chloride treatment methods are effective to a certain extent, but there are many limitations. The following is a detailed analysis of these two traditional methods as well as the new sludge conditioners:

1. Traditional Method analysis

Lime

The amount of lime is large and the operating cost is high.

Lime is corrosive to equipment and requires additional equipment maintenance costs.

Secondary pollution may occur during lime treatment, such as the emission of harmful gases such as ammonia.

Mechanism of action: Lime changes the colloidal structure of sludge by increasing the pH value of sludge, so as to achieve dehydration.

Limitations:

Ferric chloride

Ferric chloride is corrosive and has certain damage to equipment and pipes.

In the process of use, it is necessary to strictly control the dosage to avoid adverse effects on the subsequent treatment process.

The price of ferric chloride is relatively high, which increases operating costs.

Mechanism of action: Ferric chloride as a flocculant, can effectively remove suspended matter, colloids and some organic matter in water, improve water quality, but also promote the dehydration process of sludge.

Limitations:

2. New sludge conditioner

Main ingredients

New sludge conditioner usually contains inorganic compounds, sludge surface structure modifier, degreaser, wall breaking agent, sludge surface treatment agent, sludge stripping agent and other components.

Advantages

Good dehydration effect: the moisture content of the sludge can be reduced from 80% to 40%~60%, or even lower.

No corrosion to the equipment: Compared with traditional methods such as lime, the new sludge conditioner will not corrode the equipment, which is conducive to extending the service life of the equipment.

No secondary pollution: The new sludge conditioner usually does not contain harmful substances such as chloride ions, and will not cause secondary pollution to the environment.

Low operating costs: Due to the small amount of new sludge conditioner and high efficiency, operating costs can be significantly reduced.

Application example

Used in combination with the plate and frame press, the sludge moisture content can be reduced by more than 90% to 40%-60%, and the efficiency of the plate and frame filter press can be effectively improved by 100%-500%, greatly shortening the mud pressing cycle and improving productivity.

3. Suggestions

In view of the problem of high water content of mud cake, it is recommended to use a new type of sludge conditioner for treatment. When selecting sludge conditioner, it should be tested according to the specific properties of sludge type, digestion degree, solid concentration, etc., to determine the best dosage and treatment effect. At the same time, attention should also be paid to the safety issues during the storage, dosing and transportation of sludge conditioners to ensure the smooth progress of the treatment process.

In summary, although the traditional lime and ferric chloride treatment methods have certain effects in sludge dewatering, the new sludge conditioner has gradually become a new choice in the field of sludge treatment because of its good dewatering effect, no corrosion to equipment, no secondary pollution and low operating costs.
