Sludge enhancer optimizes the sludge pressing effect of plate and frame filter press

In response to the national call for reducing sludge discharge, many industrial and municipal sewage treatment sites have upgraded traditional belt sludge presses, centrifuges, and spiral folding machines to high-pressure diaphragm plate and frame filter presses, plate and frame filter presses, and ultra-high pressure plate and frame filter presses. However, many users have found that after using the plate and frame filter press, the water content of the pressed slurry is relatively high, and it is even difficult to form an ideal sandwich slurry. Despite the attempts of various agents, the water content was still difficult to reduce. The following are the reasons for the high moisture content of the sludge pressed out by the plate and frame filter press and the solutions.

Analysis of the reasons for the high moisture content of Sludge produced by Plate and Frame Filter Press

One. Direct feeding without adding sludge conditioner.

Two. The surface of sludge contains a large number of hydrophilic groups, making it difficult to effectively release excess water.

Three. The sludge is not thoroughly mixed with the sludge conditioner and the stirring is not uniform.

Four. The solid content of the sludge is low before filtration.

Solution:

One. Select the appropriate sludge conditioner.

When no sludge conditioner is added to the sludge, large flocs will form, especially for biochemical sludge, which is prone to clogging the pores of the filter cloth, resulting in a high water content. Adding the appropriate sludge conditioner is the key.

Two. Technicians conduct on-site debugging to determine the optimal addition amount and method.

The hydrophilic groups on the surface of sludge need to be destroyed by sludge conditioning agents to release water and improve dewatering efficiency.

Three. Ensure that the sludge is thoroughly mixed with the sludge conditioner.

Appropriate stirring time and method can ensure that the sludge conditioner fully contacts the sludge, improve the sludge structure and prevent the filter cloth from clogging.

Four. Increase the solid content of sludge before filtration.

Sludge with low solid content has a high water content, which affects the filtration efficiency. Appropriately increasing the solid content helps to reduce the water content of the pressed sludge.

Why is the moisture content of the slurry produced by the screw press and the belt filter press relatively low?

Although the sludge produced by other types of filter presses may have a lower water content, by choosing the appropriate sludge conditioner and optimizing the operation process, plate and frame filter presses can also achieve a low water content sludge pressing effect.

By choosing the appropriate sludge conditioner, not only can the feeding efficiency be significantly improved and the sludge moisture content be greatly reduced, but also the sludge resistance can be decreased, effectively solving the problems of unformed sludge or sandwich sludge. Continuous optimization of technology and on-site commissioning are the keys to ensuring the efficient operation of plate and frame filter presses.
