Sludge Synergist: Core Advantages Over Traditional Inorganic Conditioners

The municipal, papermaking and dyeing industries generally use PAC, polymeric iron salts and lime as sludge conditioning agents. This traditional process has irreversible technical flaws. However, Works Chemical's modified polymer sludge enhancer has achieved a dual technological breakthrough of sludge reduction and low-cost operation through innovative formulation technology.

The inherent shortcomings of traditional calcium-iron-aluminum salt conditioning technology: Firstly, the dosage of the reagent is large. For every ton of sludge, tens of kilograms of inorganic reagents need to be added. The hydrolysis generates calcium salts and iron hydroxide solid precipitates, which all remain in the sludge cake. The total sludge volume increases by 20% to 50%, and the costs for transportation, landfill, and incineration of solid waste increase exponentially. Secondly, it is highly corrosive. The acidic filtrate of iron salts and the strongly alkaline system of lime continuously corrode the filter plates, pump pipes, and filter cloths of the equipment. The equipment wear frequency is high, and lime dust is easily generated in the workshop, worsening the working environment. Thirdly, the dehydration limit is limited. Inorganic salts can only achieve surface flocculation and cannot break the bound water of organic matter. The sludge cake generally has a moisture content higher than 65%, is soft and sticky, and cannot be automatically separated. The manual cleaning intensity is high.

Innovative points of the sludge enhancer modification and compounding technology:

Low dosage non-incremental formulation technology: Based on a high-molecular organic modified polymer as the main component, only a small amount of active disintegration additives are combined. There are no inert inorganic fillers such as lime and iron-aluminum. The dosage is only 1/5 to 1/3 of the traditional reagent. No additional solid residues will be produced, and the sludge does not increase. This technology reduces the volume of solid waste disposal from the source.

Neutral and mild compatibility technology: The pH of the reagent reaction system is maintained at 6 to 9. The acidity and alkalinity of the filtrate comply with the sewage discharge standards. There is no need for secondary neutralization adjustment, eliminating the corrosion of equipment by acids and alkalis, prolonging the service life of the filter cloth and the filter press unit, and reducing the frequency of equipment maintenance and replacement.

Deep dehydration micro-regulation technology: Based on the dual technologies of wall-breaking water release and rigid floc, under the same plate and frame pressure, the moisture content of the sludge cake can be stably reduced to less than 55%. The hydrophobic property of the floc is improved, the sludge cake is formed dry and firm, and it automatically detaches from the filter cloth after the filter press is completed, solving the problems of sticky filter cloth and uneven sludge cake.

From the perspective of process operation technology, after replacing the traditional inorganic conditioning solution, the combined costs of sludge transportation, solid waste disposal, and equipment operation and maintenance have decreased by more than 30%. Considering both environmental protection compliance and long-term operation cost optimization, it is suitable for the current environmental control requirements for sludge reduction and resource utilization.
