Recently, several partner companies have reported that after changing the sludge conditioning method, the sludge dewatering conditions have completely improved. The three long-standing problems - filter cloth adhesion, excessive moisture content in the sludge cake, and high disposal costs - have all been resolved. We will analyze the actual implementation results based on on-site cases.

Challenges in the current operating conditions
A large paper mill uses plate and frame filter presses to treat production sludge and has been using a combination of PAC and lime for sludge conditioning for a long time. The on-site problems are particularly prominent:
The sludge is highly viscous. After pressing, the entire mass sticks to the filter cloth, making the unloading process very time-consuming. Each shift requires a dedicated person to clean it. On average, a new batch of filter cloth needs to be replaced every 3 months.
2. The moisture content of the sludge cake after filtration is too high, failing to meet the standards for resource utilization. The volume of sludge transported for disposal is large, and the monthly disposal costs remain extremely high.
3. The dosage of the chemical agent is high, causing dust to be generated by the lime. The working environment in the workshop is poor, and the overall operation efficiency is low.
The renovation plan and implementation process
After our technicians selected the equipment and conducted on-site trials, they customized an exclusive plan to replace the original traditional chemicals and use the SJC sludge enhancer for sludge conditioning. Throughout the process, there was no need to modify the original equipment or pipelines.
After renovation, the effects are as follows:
1. Solves the problem of filter cloth adhesion: The sludge cake is formed completely, and it automatically detaches after the filtration process is completed. No manual rinsing is required. The service life of the filter cloth is increased by more than double, and the labor and material costs are significantly reduced.
2. Significant reduction in moisture content: The deep dewatering process of the sludge is stable, the consistency of the sludge cake is uniform, completely eliminating the "soft center" phenomenon, and the moisture content meets the standard.
3. Dramatic reduction in disposal costs: The dosage of the chemical agent is much lower than that of the traditional method, there is no additional increase in sludge volume, and the total tonnage of sludge has significantly decreased. Taking into account the overall costs of sludge disposal, chemicals, labor, equipment maintenance, etc., the overall cost has dropped by over 60%.
4. Optimization of workshop environment: Free from dust and with no irritating odors. The production conditions have become more standardized.
From the on-site commissioning to the stable operation, the technicians provided continuous tracking and service throughout the process. This case also demonstrates that choosing the right sludge conditioning agent is far more important than blindly increasing the dosage of the agent.
