As the largest by-product of wastewater treatment plants, the disposal of municipal sludge (waste from daily life) has always been a "difficult issue" in the field of environmental protection. The most notable characteristic of this type of sludge is its extremely high organic content, with an initial moisture content ranging from 97% to 99%, and it also exhibits strong viscosity and hydrophilicity. During the traditional belt press filtration and dehydration process, this highly viscous gel-like substance is extremely prone to firmly adhering to the filter cloth, resulting in difficulties in discharging and frequent blockage of the filter cloth. This not only significantly increases the labor intensity for manual cleaning but also severely shortens the service life of the filter cloth.

What is even more challenging is that traditional inorganic conditioning agents are unable to break the extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) structure within municipal sludge, resulting in the water being tightly locked in. After pressing, the phenomenon of "soft core" often occurs, and the moisture content of the sludge cake fails to meet the standards, directly driving up the costs of subsequent transportation and incineration disposal.
Given the unique properties of municipal sludge, Works Chemical has independently developed and produced a sludge enhancer. This is a multifunctional modified polymer specifically designed for the plate and frame process, which can precisely act on the sludge colloids at the molecular level. Through its powerful cell disruption and gel disruption capabilities, it fully releases the bound water in municipal sludge and optimizes the structure of the flocs. In practical applications, the sludge enhancer not only enables the natural detachment of the filter cake after filtration, completely solving the problem of sticky filter cloth, but also ensures uniform dryness inside and outside the filter cake, significantly reducing the moisture content. It reduces the load on equipment from the source and improves the quality of the filter cake, providing a perfect solution for cost reduction and efficiency improvement of municipal sludge.
